Business Competition Results:

Congratulations to Holy Trinity High students that competed in the Provincial Business Competition on May 22. First place and $1500 went to Pearce Burton, 3rd place and $500 went to Robyn Budgell. Sarah Fitzgerald won the People’s Choice Award for the most popular project among delegates. An amazing showing for HTH students!

Annual Athletic Banquetexams2013

Will take place Thursday, May 28 starting at 6:00PM in the gym.. All athletes are invited to attend, we will be providing Subway and refreshments. Limited seating for parents/guardians will be available. After the banquet ends at approximately 8:00PM, we will be having a dance for the students which will run until 10:00PM. All students are welcome to attend the dance.

Spring Music Concert

We will be having our spring concert on Monday, June 1 starting at 7:00 PM. Please join us in celebrating the talents of our Concert bands, Jazz band, and Choral group. The concert will take place in the gymnasium.

Athlete of the Year Nominations

We are now accepting nominations for Jr and Sr Athlete of the Year. Students, parents, and coaches may nominate an athlete (self nominations accepted). Please complete the Nomination Form and return to Mr. Earle in the Gym.

    Calculation of Principal's List: 90% minimum in each of the five core subjects*

    Calculation of Honour Roll: 80% minimum in each of the five core subjects*

    *Five Core Subjects: English, French, Math, Science, Social Studies

    Note: Calculation of PL and HR no longer includes electives as it was felt that the amount and nature of student evaluation in these courses (short duration)  was not reflective of the progress of the students throughout the year.

    Senior High

2015 Public Exam Preparation Classes

The Newfoundland and Labrador English School District will be offering a 8 week Public Exam Preparation Program from April to June 2015.  This program will be offered twice a week on Monday and Thursday evenings at Gonzaga High School, Smithville Crescent, St. John’s. Classes will begin after the Easter Break.

Registration will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Gonzaga High School. Students can only register for one course and courses will be offered based on the overall level of student interest. Participants will be required to complete a registration form and the required fee of $185.00 per course will be paid during the first week of classes.  No refunds will be issued after Monday, April 20, 2015.

Cash/Debit/Visa/Mastercard will be available.  No cheques accepted.

Enrichment Mini Course program, for Spring 2015

The Enrichment Mini Course program is an opportunity for students in Grades 7, 8, and 9 to participate in a day of enrichment activities from a variety of academic disciplines. Information available in the links below:

All applications must be returned to the school main office by March 20 with the $40 registration fee. All cheques must be made payable to Holy Trinity High School. 

 

Visit by Canadian Forces Reserves

  • On March 18 the Canadian Forces Reserves will be visiting our school. They will be setting up a display outside the school and our level II and III students will have an opportunity to see who the Canadian Forces Reserves are and what they have to offer in part-time employment. In addition to their visit to our school they are also having an open house for our students and parents on Thursday, March 26 at 7:30 pm at the new armouries, 115 The Boulevard next to Quidi Vidi Lake. This is a great opportunity to come out and learn about the exciting opportunities and benefits offered by the Canadian Forces Reserves. STOP A BULLY

  • Holy Trinity High is now a member school of STOP A BULLY program. This is a registered national charity and Canada-wide anti-bullying program which allows any student who is a victim or witness of bullying and cyberbullying to be able to safely report the details to school officials.   Any student, at any school in Canada, can use this reporting service which is provided at no cost to all students and schools.  The Stop A Bully program helps increase bullying awareness & accountability within schools to allow officials to be more proactive in preventing serious incidents of bullying.  Stop A Bully provides schools with critical information to be proactive in assisting all students who are witness, target and perpetrator of school bullying.

Grade 9 Johnson HORIZONS Scholarship opportunity:

  • This year, Johnson Inc., is offering 50 scholarships to grade 9 students across the province, each valued at $1200. Selected candidates are welcomed into a leadership development program that will work with them throughout high school and will extend into their time at Memorial University.

Junior High Math Help Centre is now OPEN

  • During lunchtimes in Room 122 we will be hosting a free Math Help Centre for our students, please see schedule below:
    • Days 1,8: Grade 7
    • Days 4,11: Grade 8
    • Days 7, 14: Day 9

 

Attention Grade 9 students and Parents/Guardians

  • We are starting the process of course selection for 2015-2016. To help students and parents/guardians understand Grade 10 course offerings, and the high school credit system, an important information session is being held Thursday, February 26 at 7:00 pm in the school’s Learning Resource Centre. All Grade 9 students and their parents/guardians are urged to attend this meeting.

    February Parent Newsletter

  • There will not be any classes for students for the PM session on Thursday, Feb. 19. Also, there will not be any classes for students all day Feb. 20.
  • Term 2 Report Cards will be distributed Friday, Feb. 13 at 2:10 pm.

February 9 Activity Day Information

  • On Monday, February 9 all students have the opportunity to participate in skiing, bowling, or skating activities. Students need to register for these activities by completing the attached forms. The deadline for submission is Wednesday, Feb. 4.

 

Public Exam Schedule

There will be no classes during Easter Break and these sessions will be added to another week.

    Registration will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Gonzaga High School.  Classes will start on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m.  Participants will be required to complete a registration form and pay the required fee of $185.00 per course at the time of registration.  No refunds will be issued after March 6, 2015.

Ms Carol Roberts - recipient of the Prime Minister’s Award for Teaching Excellence:

  • Congratulations to Ms Carol Roberts on receiving the Prime Minister’s Award for Teaching Excellence for 2013-2014. Ms Roberts, one of our Science teachers, was one of two Newfoundland and Labrador teachers that received this prestigious award. Jack Harris, MP for St. John’s East, visited the school October 24 to present Ms Roberts with her Award.

Wednesday, Nov. 5 is Take our Kids to Work day for Grade 9 students and parents. This optional initiative allows the entire community-parents, teachers, employers, and workers to play a part in the career development of Gr 9 students who participate in this job shadowing experience.   • The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award encourages young people to make a difference while exploring their potential, taking on new challenges and achieving success.
